Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about iSkitch — capture, pricing, privacy and more.
What is iSkitch?
iSkitch is a modern, native macOS app to capture your screen, annotate it instantly and share it in one click. It's an independent, ground-up recreation of the classic Skitch experience, rebuilt in SwiftUI and AppKit for today's macOS. It is not made by or affiliated with Evernote or the original Skitch.
How much does iSkitch cost?
iSkitch is a one-time purchase of US$9.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency) — no subscription, ever. Buy it once and it's yours, including future updates.
Which Macs and macOS versions does it support?
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. iSkitch is a Universal Binary, so it runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel Macs.
What languages does iSkitch support?
Eight: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. It follows your system language automatically, and you can change it in Settings ▸ General ▸ Language.
I press ⌥⌘4 but nothing is captured. What's wrong?
It's almost always the Screen Recording permission. Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen Recording, turn on iSkitch, and relaunch the app. The first time you capture, macOS asks for this permission automatically.
Where are my screenshots saved?
Nowhere until you decide. iSkitch never saves silently: you choose the destination when you press Save or drag the image out of the window. In Settings ▸ Capture you can set a default folder and format (PNG, JPG, PDF or TIFF).
How do I share or export a capture?
Click Share to use the native macOS share sheet (Mail, Messages, Notes, Slack, AirDrop and more), copy to the clipboard, drag the image straight into any app, or export to PNG, JPEG, PDF or TIFF.
Can I hide sensitive information?
Yes. Use the Obscure tool and choose Pixelate, Blur, Solid block or Stripes to reliably cover anything you don't want to show.
Does iSkitch collect my data?
No. iSkitch works entirely offline — no accounts, no tracking, no analytics — and your captures never leave your Mac.
